The primary school occupies a series of buildings that include a large new build structure and an old sandstone building formerly villas. Our master-plan study looks at the potential for the school to redevelop the sandstone building back into residential use, thus realising an asset and reliving themselves of the ongoing maintenance and running costs of an old building. Our study also explored potential for new build residential space and where to locate any future purpose built extensions. The original residential buildings are spectacular houses with ornate detailing. The challenge with this project is to create attractive living spaces that are not compromised by the existing adjacent school or that overlook the school play areas. A total of twenty-one apartments can be accommodated on the site and would provide a good source of income for future development of the school facilities.
