With an ever-tight budget, our proposal for the Inverness Six Cities Festival sought to transform a dark and dreary disconnected 60’s office into a bright and welcoming venue with sparkle. With such an uninspiring canvas, we decided to create the complete opposite of what was there- nature, trees, grass, fields, light Ð with the view to challenging the visitors preconceptions. All of the ceiling tiles were to be painted in shades of blue to create a sky with Perspex clouds diffusing harsh lighting, the beige carpet tiles were to be replaced with grass (real and printed tiles) and the boxy office feel was to be transformed by building curved sweeping exhibition walls and landscape to soften the edges.
