Sherwood Church, Paisleymore informationThe beautiful Victorian church built in red sandstone sits on a prominent corner site on Glasgow Road, Paisley. The subject of our appointment involved incorporating level access and internal lift, reorganising the halls, reinstating original features, improving the environmental performance of the building and creating a delicate new welcoming entrance to both halls and church. In response to the original building form and to the spire- the one significant modern addition the building- we have designed a curved glass entrance pavilion opening to the street corner with a stepped lead roof and conical glass rooflights echoing the copper spire. The new bright entrance pavilion flows from the previously dingy slot between the church and the hall and the roof line adopts the level of the existing string course of the building.
