Orr Street, new housing development, Glasgow

Adjacent to the former St Mary’s Church hall conversion project, (incorporating community facilities and recently completed by us) this new housing scheme completes the city block. Parallel to the street edge and facing east, overlooking an existing playing field, the elevation is a closed bedroom wall that folds up and down in shades of blue with small windows having views to the morning sun. To the west, facing a new park garden where there used to be a cemetery, the living spaces have alternating balconies, large windows and a soft timber facade which overlooks the new tranquil sensory garden. The apparently random facades are actually repetitive and are proportioned according to the spaces and uses within the building.
