Kilmaronock Estate, Loch Lomondmore informationThe estate includes a listed country house, scheduled monument tower keep, derelict glass houses, manicured lawns and extensive farmland. Rundown for many years, the estate requires an understanding of the site and arising from this a fresh and inventive review to allow for all of the many parts to work together harmoniously. The master plan at Kilmaronock Estate we are developing introduces four holiday lodges, car parking, landscape/infrastructure improvements and ultimately the restoration/consolidation of the tower. The proposed plan shows the aspirations of our client which can be achieved by developing buildings and landscape over a series of phases and several years. The master plan creates a setting around the tower without detracting from the current peaceful landscape. We are also reintroducing a water feature and fountain in the overgrown garden area. The access to the site will remain the same with improvements to the tree lined avenue and the introduction of new lighting. To preserve a tranquil setting, the lodges will not have parking immediately beside them but will be within 50 metres of the buildings. Our aim is to create new accomodation in a contemporary Scottish vernacular style. Work completed in the country house includes combining two rooms into a grand drawing room, converting the billiard room into a master bedroom suite and forming a new office in one of the outbuildings. A new estate office and garage is also planned beside the house in place of the current disconnected 1960's garage. The design relates to the geometry of the keep and house. |
