Refitting an existing jewellery shop to maximise the use of space, developed into a project for an entirely new shop immediately beside the existing. No longer able to accommodate all the goods within the existing shell the new shop almost doubled the space available. Within an existing Edwardian tenement shop, completely stripped out, the new space was developed as a light bright volume with high quality finishes and a delicate lighting scheme. Into this space beautifully crafted oak cabinets were introduced to display and hold the many different objects on sale. Our approach was to create a (much needed) consistent and connected appearance where the objects within the cabinets become the focus of attention. The oak cabinets for display were developed as objects with a tree in the window, a cloud in the central space and floating jewellery boxes around the walls.
