Houses in Balfron

Derelict and dilapidated, this former red sandstone Victorian schoolhouse lay neglected on the edge of a Bellway housing development. By converting into two dwelling houses (one larger, one smaller) we maintain the existing wrap around stone screen that provides a front and side to new houses while extending a new wing to the rear that incorporates a double garage with master bedroom above, both for the larger house. To either side of the garage wing a new glazed modern sunroom projects into the garden creating an informal living space internally. Internal layouts are open plan with open oak stairs at either end of the building with the existing large vertical windows behind. The larger house incorporates the central bay as a double height living volume with the existing clock to Cotton Street as a feature window viewed from the balcony internally.
