House in Barrhead

Set in beautiful sloping grounds the house does not offer good connections to the rear garden. Our brief was to provide an improved garden connection, a beautiful light kitchen and a special space for two retired greyhounds. The new roof profile at the rear creates a ‘gull-wing’ effect lifting to the north, following the slope of the site, with a high level window to the garden. The kitchen space under this new roof opens to the rockery through a new bay window, with a copper roof to echo the 1930s extension bay to the side of the existing dwelling, built by a copper contractor who once owned the house.
