House 3 in West End, Glasgow

As part of a series of general improvements to a Victorian townhouse conversion, we replaced the large stair windows that were rotten and drafty. Along the length of the same terrace one can see over ten different versions of how to tackle this problem. Our solution was to retain the same proportions from the original glazing by using leaded glass panels and also to provide access to the flat roof for maintenance. Our design for the leaded panels reflect the pattern of the streets where the house is situated, accurately mapping the green spaces and some of the landmark buildings. The light from these windows creates beautiful patterns through the handmade glass across the hallway/stair and provides complete privacy from the neighbouring properties that overlook the elevation.
