Clouds have long held the fascination of mankind; sometimes seen as the celestial transport of angels, they can be portents of good fortune or bad, relief from drought or bringers of flood. Clouds can be illustrative of the powerful imagination that children possess. Most will have sat and dreamily gazed up at the sky trying to recognise shapes in the clouds. The changing skyscapes that they create can convey different moods and atmospheres which artists have often used to great effect.
The proposed play-works reflect some of the variety and enchantment of clouds. Each is supported over the miniature landscape of hills and glens, each possessing a different material quality representing the various weather patterns and providing the opportunity for children to literally have 'their heads in the clouds.'
