The bio-gas organic recycling station consists of the following:
Waste is from the flats and surrounding Lochend area. Gas produced is stored on site and utilised for heat, electricity production and fueling for cars at the vertical car park walls at either end of the site.
The Bio-gas Recycling Station will be used as an example of good practice and an education facility for local and national schools, institutions and public who would all be encouraged to visit and view recycling/renewable energy process.
Transport Mix
Entry to the site for residents will be via two structural grid constructions (automated car parking walls) acknowledging that cars are likely to be present but unwelcome quality on the site. People will utilise public transport particularly the new light rail-link and station which is an integral part of the concept, and the car wall turns into a graveyard - a monument to the 20th century. Cars and service vehicles can travel across the site from gateway points at the west/east, but only for drop off, service and delivery. Just as we take off our "dirty shoes" as we enter a clean house the cars are left at the site edge. The travellator adjacent to the car walls supplies the building with people to live and work. They can access the appropriate stair tower from the travellator, comfortably managing any messages/shopping.
