Extension and attic conversion, Balgonie Drive, Paisley
more information
Our challenge at Balgonie Drive was to adapt a traditional 1950’s bungalow, familiar to many places across Scotland, into a 21st Century flexible living space for a growing family. Similar to the Victorian villas we have worked with, the compartmentalised plan restricts room uses and communication within the house. A major part of the proposal involved remodelling the ground floor area opening up existing space and adding new space to create a more open plan layout. A corner glazed sunroom with a transitional terrace connects the interior with the exterior utilising the length of garden to the rear. The sense of space achieved within the house comes as a surprise to visitors.
